Visiting The Field – Tours and Open Days

Leaflets and food Tasting at our 2005 open day.

Some years we have one or more open days during the summer, where visitors can come and be shown around, learn about the land; the plants and our methods of growing them; and also to taste some of the plants where appropriate – without the need to book up in advance.

When we do have open days, they are normally advertised on the website.

In addition though, it is also possible to come and be shown around the land at a mutually convenient date and time in return for a fee/donation. We are not an immaculately weeded garden – we do not have the resources for this – neither do we really want to be because many of the weeds are very useful to have and we feel it is good for both humans and wildlife to have a certain amount of wildness around!

However, sometimes there is a bit more wildness than we would really like – especially when we are not ready for an organised open day!

However, in spite of the wildness, there are still very many interesting plants to see and learn about. And the beauty of perennials in favour of annuals is that even if you aren’t always able to look after them as well as you should – or even at all in cases such as illness – they have a much greater chance of surviving and even thriving than the much weaker annual and biennial vegetables that most food gardens focus on.

To arrange a tour, please phone Addy on 01208 873554, leaving a message if necessary.
